Concorso d’Eleganza

Westchester Concorso d’Eleganza 2010 – October 2, 2011
Our second annual Concorso d’Eleganza on Sunday, October 2, was an extraordinary display of Italian art, style and engineering. The event drew more than 2,000 car enthusiasts and interested observers who enjoyed the Italian food and music and, of course, the one hundred rare and exotic cars and motorcycles that filled Depot Square. Senator Jeff Klein and Mayor Steve Ecklond enjoyed the show as they mingled with the crowd.
Committee Co-Chairs Domenick Ciaccia and Jack Ciaccia, and members Bob Pfister, Michael Caruso, Tony Maddalena, Mario Gazzola and Joe Izzo organized a magnificent array of some of the most exclusive examples of Italian classic and modern automobiles in the area. From Peter Greenfield’s 1935 Alfa Romeo Tipo C 50013, the only complete, original surviving one in the world to a sleek, black 2012 Lamborghini Aventador coupe featuring a 700hp v12 engine and a hot, red 2012 Fiat 500 owned by Sue Ciaccia – there were cars to please all who attended. Eighty years of exceptional design and craftsmanship from premier brands including Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini, Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Lancia, Pininfarina, Abarth, Cisitalia, Fulvia, Ducati, Moto Guzzi, O.S.C.A. (Officine Specializzate Costruzioni Automobili – Fratelli Maserati SpA), a Chevrolet Corvette Rondine hybrid and a Chrysler Prototype by Ghia were on display for guests to get up close to, ask the owners questions and photograph.

Activities
The food court featured Italian delicacies and pastries provided by DeCicco’s Family Markets, local family owned stores that offer fresh produce and many Italian specialty foods. La Casa del Caffè provided the cappuccino and espresso. GROM Gelato provided free tastes of a variety of gelato flavors offered in their New York stores. DJ Serg’s music added to the festivities of the day. Kids of all ages enjoyed face painting, coloring pictures of Italian cars and motorcycles, simulated racing, and the balloon man thrilled children with a variety of colorful animals.
